An in depth understanding of soils is essential when addressing most watershed issues and concerns. Knowing this, Watershed Consulting places great emphasis on the conservation and enhancement of the soil resource. For example, if the soil water infiltration capacity is compromised in the upper reaches of a watershed, the consequences are evident throughout the drainage. These are typically exhibited as higher than natural spring flooding, lower than natural mid-summer stream flow, and elevated stream sediments.
