Client: Ashley Creek Watershed Group, Scott Payne, Coordinator
Conducted an overall watershed assessment of the Ashley Creek watershed using air photo analysis. The assessment concentrated on riparian canopy opening, coverage class, large woody debris recruitment, adequate buffer zones and evidence of channelization and wetland ditching. In addition, sediment source areas were identified and landslide prone areas analyzed. Level I Rosgen stream channel classification is combined with this data to identify channel stability and areas prone to excessive erosion. This assessment is part of an overall plan to reduce erosion and nutrient delivery to Ashley Creek, a tributary to the Flathead River, and will lead to detailed assessments and restoration plans for individual stream reaches and sediment sources.
