Client: U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service and MT Department of Fish, Wildlife & Parks
We designed two fish bypass channels to facilitate fish passage through two high irrigation dams on Douglas Creek near Helmville, MT. The bypass channels have reaches ranging from Rosgen A+ to E types, conforming to given slope dictated by the dams and their spillways. While the designs conform to Rosgen criteria, they also incorporate step/pool depth, spacing and height required for trout passage. The design has been funded by the Future Fisheries Fund and will be implemented this year.
