To mitigate for wetlands that will be lost during the enlargement of U.S. Highway 93, Watershed Consulting was hired to identify areas suitable for new wetland construction. Olson Coulee, a tributary of Post Creek, was studied for wetland construction feasibility. Surface and alluvial groundwater supply, and monthly evapotranspiration were evaluated. In addition, suitability of soils, vegetation, sub-soil substrate and topography for potential wetland construction were assessed.
